Welcombe
Welcombe, on the Atlantic Coast just on the Devon side of the North Devon/Cornwall border, midway between Bideford and Bude, is perfectly situated for a walking holiday, with plenty to occupy both those looking for picturesque, gentle strolls and the more dedicated walker; there is access to a large network of local footpaths.
Welcombe includes a scattering of hamlets, whereas the village itself sits astride a deep valley. Here, a meandering stream flows to the cliff edge, at Welcombe Mouth, where it ends in a stunning waterfall. St Nectan's Church looks over the northern flank of the valley, with The Old Smithy Inn on the southern side. Visitors can take in the spectacular scenery and peaceful surroundings whilst enjoying the proximity of attractions in both Devon and Cornwall. With the seaside town of Bude just 10 miles south, boasting a sandy beach, large seawater swimming pool and indoor heated Splash Pool, bowling alley and activity centre, Welcome is a great holiday destination.
