Leonard Cheshire Disability exists to change attitudes to disability and to serve disabled people around the world. LCD offers services such as care homes, supported living, domiciliary support, day services, resource centres, rehabilitation, respite care, personal support plus training and assistance for those looking for work. Leonard Cheshire operate in all parts of the UK and is the largest voluntary sector provider of care and support services for disabled people. There are many ways in which you can help Leonard Cheshire Disability. You can make a vital contribution by making a donation, volunteering your time, taking part in one their exciting fundraising events or finding a new and rewarding career with them!
Leonard Cheshire Westmead House, in Braunton, is home to 18 young disabled men and women and is run by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. The young residents are in the process of making some exciting new changes to their lives; they want to go carriage riding, abseiling, fishing, weight lifting, ten pin bowling, swimming, see football or cricket matches, have aromatherapy massages and much more!

Westmead House has a variety of opportunities for volunteers, from assisting with activity days to providing support with the residents' campaigning or IT skills. If you think you can help, they would like to hear from you about your skills, and the things that you can offer to the Westmead residents, which will enhance their quality of life.
A new appointment of a volunteer coordinator at Westmead House (Leonard Cheshire Disability) has meant that residents have been given the opportunity to make choices about trying out different activities that were previously unavailable to them. The role of the volunteer coordinator is to find out what residents want to do and then find the volunteers to make this happen. Westmead have done the first part and now its over to you. They NEED volunteers, you are vital to making these things happen.
Volunteers will receive all the relevant training needed and be given full support by the Volunteer Coordinator and the staff team. Any time that you can give will be made use of, whether you have lots of time to give, or if you can only offer one hour a week or even month, this will make a difference. Westmead are looking for people from all walks of life and will not discourage anyone based on their age, disability, sex, race, sexual orientation, or religion beliefs.
